Change detection
and AI screening
Changes and anomalies, found in the data. We compare point clouds captured at two different times. AI screening then narrows a wide survey area down to the locations that need a closer look. Inspection and maintenance decisions no longer rest on experience and instinct alone.
The data tells you what changed
Change detection
We scan the same location at two different times and compare the two point clouds. Displacement, deformation, and sediment buildup that the eye misses show up as numbers and a heat map that color-codes the amount of change.
AI screening
Across a wide area, AI screening picks out the locations that need a closer look. It helps you prioritize inspections, so limited staff and limited time go where they are actually needed.
Reports delivered
We organize the results into a form you can act on directly. Use them as the basis for internal reporting and repair planning.
These are the common cases. Ask us about calculating sediment volume and earthwork volume, ongoing monitoring of change over time, or any analysis shaped around what you need to know.
When to talk to us
- You want to quantify deterioration and deformation.
- You're worried that visual inspections alone will miss something.
- You want to compare an earlier point cloud with the site as it is today.
- You want a record of what changed before and after construction or renovation work.
- You have a lot to inspect and need to decide what comes first.
- You want early warning of settlement or displacement.
How change detection works
-
Initial discussion and data review
We go over your goal and the target area. If you already have point cloud data, bring it. We quote each job based on what it involves.
-
Scanning and registration
If you don't have a baseline dataset, we start with a 3D laser scanning survey. We then register both point clouds into the same coordinate system.
-
Change detection and AI screening
We extract the changed areas and narrow them down to the locations that need a closer look.
-
Reports delivered
We deliver a heat map and a list of the locations that need a closer look, organized into a form you can act on.
Deliverables
-
Analysis report
A report (PDF) covering what changed, the numbers, and our findings. You can use it as is for internal reporting and repair planning.
-
Point cloud data with changes highlighted
Point cloud data with the amount of change color-coded as a heat map. E57, LAS, and other formats on request.
-
Sharing through TENZOH
We deliver the analysis results through TENZOH, our point cloud viewer. Everyone involved can open it in a browser. Nothing to install.
Note: Ask us about ongoing monitoring as well (scheduled scans and comparison from the same fixed points).
Frequently asked questions
- Can you compare against point cloud data from an earlier scan?
- Yes. Send us the older data you already have, and we take it from registration onward. If you don't have a baseline dataset, talk to us about starting from the first scan.
- What can change detection tell you?
- Displacement, deformation, and sediment buildup are changes the eye misses. We can show them as numbers and a heat map, which gives you a factual basis for inspection and maintenance decisions.
- What form do the analysis results come in?
- An analysis report (PDF) and point cloud data with the detected changes displayed. We can also share the results in a browser through TENZOH, our point cloud viewer.
- What does it cost?
- We quote each project based on scope and the analysis involved. Start with a message.
“Can you measure this change?”
Start there.
Tell us the condition of the target and the change you are concerned about.
We will recommend the analysis approach that fits. Ask us about comparing against data you already have.
